Our second graders have been learning about all kinds of weather.❄️⛈💨🌪They made it rain inside their classroom, created structures to withstand a hurricane (hairdryer), wrote snowman adventures, and learned how to make snow crystals with Mrs. Hutchison.

Gym Rats will show off their skills at the halftimes of the HS basketball games February 11th! 🏀

More Than a Game: Okeene Stands with #24
The Okeene community proudly came together to support Dover’s #24, Randy Vitales. Our players, students, and fans wore Dover shirts and generous members of our community donated to show that some things are bigger than sports. A heartfelt thank you to the following donors for making this possible:
• A Athletics
• Golden Co
• Krause & Assoc
• Rocky & Lisa Schmidt
• Whippet Boosters
• Krause Construction
• Okeene Milling
• Heather Boeckman Accounting
We are especially happy that a percentage of the shirt sales went directly to Randy to support him during his recovery. In moments like these, we’re reminded that while we may be competitors on the court, we are always one team when it matters most. #DoverStrong #MoreThanAGame #WhippetWay

Show your support for the OHS Whippet and Lady Whippet basketball teams as they look to 2025 playoffs! Orders will be open for one week and will be available for pick up during Senior Night games on 2/11/25 or can be shipped directly to you!
(Short sleeve T-shirts have been ordered for players/staff/cheer)

📚 Holocaust Remembrance Day in ELA 🌟 Today, our 7th, 8th, & 9th-grade ELA classes honored Holocaust Remembrance Day through meaningful learning and reflection. They explored symbolism by discussing why the Star of David represents hope and remembrance, then turned 3D-printed stars into pins and necklaces to carry this message forward. They experienced the harsh reality of concentration camps by eating three meals totaling less than 500 calories, the same rations prisoners received—an amount far too little to sustain life, work, or survival. Using VR headsets, they traveled to 13 Holocaust-related locations, including Anne Frank’s annex, Holocaust museums, and memorials, immersing themselves in history. Most importantly, they not only learned, but deeply experienced the concepts of empathy, injustice, and inhumanity, reflecting on their relevance to our world today. This day reminded them of the importance of remembering the past to ensure a better future. 🌍 Also, a very special thank you to Mrs. Feely, Mr. Feely, and Mr. Hursh who came in and worked with our students, dove into the lessons themselves, and shared their knowledge of WWII and the Holocaust.

Redbud Reading Challenge Votes #5 & #6 are in! Jensen Regier, Maddilyn Seelke, Emory Long, and Luis Cahueque were the star listeners this week for Pre-K and Kindergarten. 📚
