Jane Austen Reading Challenge Winners Announced
Students recently took part in a Jane Austen Reading Challenge, inviting students, staff, and community members to celebrate a love of reading through classic literature. Participants competed by reading the most books within their age category, with winners receiving a certificate, prizes, and a $10 gift card to purchase their next new book.
This year’s challenge winners are Suttyn Krause, Finley Krause, Lynn Doane, and Maddie Whitfield. Their dedication and enthusiasm for reading truly stood out.
Thank you to all students, staff, and community members who participated and helped make the challenge a success. Huge congratulations to our winners—we are proud of your accomplishments and excited to see what you read next!

Groundhog's Day is upon us and the First Graders made their predictions as to whether or not he would see his shadow. With a vote of 14 to 9 we are hopeful he will NOT see his shadow and spring will come early. We also wrote about which season we prefer winter or spring. ❄️ 🌞 ⛄️ 🌺

The Covington-Douglas games originally rescheduled for this Saturday, January 31st, have been canceled. They will not be made up.

Our Okeene Lady Whippets won 3rd place in the Shattuck Shootout today while our boys fell short in overtime. The Whippets play at home tomorrow night against Geary starting with junior high at 4:00pm!

Join our 4H and FFA for a Turkey and Pulled Pork dinner on Sunday from 11:30-1:00pm at the cafeteria! 🎟️

There have been some changes to the grade school and junior high games next Thursday, February 5th, in Okeene. With these adjustments, we were able to reschedule the Dover High School games for that evening as well.

The grade school basketball games tomorrow have been canceled.

The basketball games tomorrow night, January 27th, against Dover have been postponed. We will update when a new date is determined.

Okeene Public Schools will start at 9:00 AM tomorrow, January 27th to give custodians time to salt and busses more time to run their routes. There will be no breakfast served. There will also be no Gym Rats.

Although the concert was cancelled due to extreme weather on Saturday, Senior Caden Reames, participated in the OKMEA All State Wind Symphony at the state conference this past week. He earned 4th chair overall! We are so proud of his accomplishments!
