✨ High Plains Bank Christmas Tree Contest! ✨

Our elementary classes decked out their trees at High Plains Bank—and they look amazing!

Stop by the bank to vote for your favorite tree by placing a donation in its box. Every dollar counts as a vote, and the best part? Each class benefits from the money donated. Each winning class also gets prize money sponsored by High Plains Bank! Voting ends on Christmas Eve at noon!

Last year, teachers used their earnings for so many meaningful things— start-of-year goodies, end-of-year gifts for students, Christmas crafts, new classroom chairs, cardstock, manipulatives, STEM bin activities, snacks, novel-study book sets, classroom calculators, postcard-exchange supplies, and new library books. These funds were deeply appreciated by both teachers and students. Your support truly makes a difference.

Head over to High Plains Bank and help your favorite class shine bright this season! 🎄

Our 8th Grade ELA Students Became Teachers on Friday!

After several weeks of researching, reading, and writing about the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and key facts about Oklahoma history, our 8th grade ELA students had the chance to put their knowledge to work in a very special way.

Friday, they teamed up with Ms. Hauser’s 3rd graders and used a giant floor map of Oklahoma—on loan from the Oklahoma Alliance for Geographic Education—to teach the younger students what they had learned.

Working in pairs, the 8th graders guided their 3rd grade partners across the map, helping them understand Oklahoma’s counties, cities, rivers, landmarks, and our place in the United States. They also shared kid-friendly explanations of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.

Our 8th graders did a spectacular job stepping into the role of teachers. They were patient, prepared, confident, and engaging. And the 3rd graders? They were incredible students—curious, attentive, and excited to learn from their big buddies.

It was a wonderful day of collaboration, leadership, and learning. We are so proud of all of them!

Congratulations to Caden Reames. He accomplished a statistically impossible feat. He (from a class B school) is now the 4th-ranked high school clarinet player in the ENTIRE state of Oklahoma.

At Oklahoma Music Educator Association (OKMEA) All-State, every high school in this state is represented, regardless of school size and classification. Students from big schools have the advantage of multiple band staff members, clinics, workshops, and almost all of these students take lessons from a college professor to prepare for this event.

Caden did not attend any workshops, he did not have a masterclass session with a clarinet expert, and he did not work with a college professor. He worked tirelessly, primarily on his own, in 3 weeks to prepare for this competition.

It is so difficult to make OKMEA All-State from small schools, that directors from small schools formed their own All-State Honor Band. The Oklahoma Small Schools Band Director Association (OSSBDA) All-State, which is open to schools up to class 4A. If you recall, Caden placed 2nd in THAT honor band last month.

Caden also made All-State in the amazing One Act, and displays the same phenomenal drive to excellence in the classroom as well. Placing him at FIVE All-State qualifications in his career

It's fair to say that Caden Reames does whatever it takes to be the best at everything he chooses to do!

Coach Heckart's 7th grade Tech-Ed class wants to share what they've been up to so far this semester:
🚀Built rockets and did the Wright Brothers airplane challenge. For this, they launched the rockets at the Sports Complex and they reached the height of 300 feet.
🛩️An Airplane challenge, which took place in the Elementary gym. The planes flew in a circle at about waist high.
🏎️Built Co2 Cars out of balsa wood. They learned how to use woodworking tools to cut and sand the cars.
