Day 3 of the Great Water Write-Off: Lemon Lime Lift! 🍋 Today’s water twist was lemon lime, and our students had a lot to say! Described as sour, bitter, and yet super refreshing, this citrusy sip was a big hit. 🔹 75% of students said they’d choose lemon lime water over plain water. 🔹 90% liked or loved today’s flavor — a huge jump from the 42% who felt the same about mint cucumber! We also learned some awesome health facts: lemon lime water is packed with vitamin C, helps with digestion, and supports your liver and kidneys. And the best part? The hype for tomorrow’s mystery water is real — students are buzzing with guesses, and the excitement is through the roof! Stay tuned! 🔍 Clue 1: Riddle Me This I’m red or pink but grow in green, I’m juicy sweet, a summer queen. I’m made of water, mostly so— What fruit am I? Take a guess, let’s go! 🧠 Clue 2: Math + Science Puzzle This mystery fruit is made of approximately 92% water. If you ate 300 grams of it, how many grams would be water? (Hint: Knowing this fruit helps solve the puzzle.) 📚 Clue 3: Trivia Time In ancient Egypt, seeds from this fruit were buried with kings to ensure hydration in the afterlife. It’s also a distant cousin to cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash. What fruit is it? Use these clues to keep the excitement high and the guesses rolling in!

Day 2 of the Great Water Write-Off! 💧 Today we tasted cucumber mint water—and even sampled fresh mint leaves! We debated (with great arguments!) how much you can add to water before it stops being just water. We also explored the water cycle and crunched the numbers on today’s water reviews. 💬 Student Reactions: 14% loved cucumber mint water 28% liked it 58% said no thanks! When given the choice, 68% of students said they’d rather stick with regular water, while 32% would choose cucumber mint again. We added argumentative essays to our writing options and began drafting. We also discovered that cucumber mint water is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits—bonus! Writing, tasting, learning—we’re soaking it all in!

The Great Water Write-Off! 💧 Day 1 This week, our 7th, 8th, and Freshman English students dove headfirst into a refreshing new project we’re calling "The Great Water Write-Off!" We kicked things off Monday with research about the importance of water—why our Earth and every living thing depends on it. Students read nonfiction books, dug into fascinating facts, and explored how hydration impacts our health and our world. Each day, we’re taste-testing a different type of water (yes, water can be exciting!) and preparing to write one of four papers: opinion, informative, persuasive, or compare and contrast. At the end of the week, we’ll vote on our favorite water and show off our writing skills like never before. Stay tuned—because these students are bringing the flavor to writing!

7th–9th Grade Book Report Brilliance! Our 7th–9th ELA students absolutely crushed their Semester 2 book reports! Each student read a fictional chapter book, gave a thoughtful summary to the class, and brought a food item that creatively connected to their book. The level of application and critical thinking it took to link literature with something tangible like food is truly impressive—and they mastered it. They are not just great readers, but confident speakers and skilled presenters. Watching them shine and share their ideas with such clarity and creativity was a highlight of the semester. Their growth this year has been incredible, and I could not be prouder! Creative & Crazy Book Report Foods Our students went all out connecting food to their nonfiction reads! Check out some of the amazing (and wild!) items they brought: 🍝 Cupcakes topped with “spaghetti and meatball” candy 🍬 Gummy bears linked to survival stories 🏍️ Dirt bike track cake—complete with icing trails and ramps 🍰 Homemade cheesecake to represent sweet success 🚫🍹 “Don’t Drink and Drive” mocktails with a powerful message 📿 Candy necklaces to tie in personal journeys and identity 📘 Cakes decorated like the actual front cover of their book 🍕 Pizza, representing teamwork and sharing in a sports memoir 🎨 Apple pie and SO much more! These students didn’t just read—they connected, created, and wowed us all. Their level of insight and creativity was truly unforgettable. Thank you Mrs. Feely for helping us find great books and thank you to the parents for the support at home with their food!
