🎄✨ A Magical Night in OKC! ✨🎄
Many of our Gifted and Talented students, top readers, and a select few had the incredible opportunity to travel to Oklahoma City for an unforgettable evening. The night began with a delicious dinner at Hideaway Pizza, followed by a breathtaking performance of A Cirque Christmas at the OKC Civic Center Music Hall. The show, featuring dazzling acrobatics and captivating magic, truly brought the holiday spirit to life.
A very special thank you goes out to Mr. Feely, Mrs. Feely and Mr. Hursh for their invaluable help, as well as Mountain Country Foods for their generous support. Their contributions make trips like this possible, creating lifelong memories for our students that they will cherish forever. ❤️

🎃October Teachers of the Month🎃
Ms. Hauser has taught for 15 years. This is her 5th year at Okeene. She feels blessed to get to teach at the same school that she graduated from and to be a part of the Whippet family.
Mrs. Hursh teaches 7/8th reading and writing and English 1. She coaches eSports and is our 7-12th Gifted and Talented coordinator.
This is her 31st year teaching and she is originally from Iowa-born and raised.
Also... A big THANK YOU and shout out to Whippet Bites and Golden Co. for supporting our teachers each month. 👏
Our 7th-9th grade ELA students just completed their interdisciplinary unit, The Great Expedition: Charting New Frontiers, which explored the legacy of Lewis and Clark and the impact of exploration on America's history.
The essential question guiding their journey was: How has exploration shaped America’s past, and how do we commemorate it today?
Throughout the unit, students:
1️⃣Read a variety of nonfiction books and watched educational videos.
2️⃣Took detailed notes and wrote a five-paragraph essay to synthesize their understanding.
3️⃣Mapped Lewis and Clark's journey and studied the four main rivers they navigated. 4️⃣Took a virtual tour of the Gateway Arch, immersing themselves in its history.
5️⃣Used VR headsets, guided by Mrs. Feely, to enhance their exploration experience. 6️⃣Learned how to use the Glowforge, with Mrs. Hutchison's guidance, to cut a wooden U.S. map of the Louisiana Purchase and create acrylic silhouettes of Lewis and Clark to accompany their presentations.
These projects helped students combine technology, creativity, and historical knowledge to bring the story of exploration to life. A huge thank you to Mrs. Feely and Mrs. Hutchison for their incredible support, and congratulations to all of our students for their hard work and dedication! Great job, Whippets! 🐾
