JH basketball games have been moved up today at the Sharon-Mutual Tournament.
Our 4th grade participated in the 1st Annual 🏀PIG Tournament🏀 in PE. All students did a great job. The four finalists showed not only their skills on the court, but also great sportsmanship. 👏

For two consecutive quarters, the 7th-grade class has claimed victory in the AR Snow Cone Challenge, out reading the staff, 8th grade, and 9th grade! This quarter, they earned an impressive 777 AR points, securing a well-deserved free snow cone or bag of cotton candy treat. 🍧
While everyone is doing an amazing job reading, 7th grade has proven themselves to be remarkable readers. Their dedication, effort, and love for books are inspiring! You should all be incredibly proud of your hard work.
The big question is: Can they make it a three-peat in the 3rd quarter? The competition is heating up, and everyone has a chance to take the ribbon. Let’s keep turning those pages and see who will come out on top next time! 📖
Okeene Elementary Redbud Reading Challenge Round #2 Winner: Lucky Duck!
As all of you are aware, it was brought to the attention of school administration that a possible threat was being made against our school on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. We immediately informed law enforcement of the situation and together with their efforts felt we could safely and successfully carry out our shcool day while investigating the incident. I can now inform our consistuents that our administration with assistance from law enforcement have concluded that there is no verifiable truth to these accusations. On behalf of Okeene Public Schools we want to thank Chief Rackley for his imediate support and organization of an unbelievable police presence. Chief Rackley organized a response team comprised of various law enforcement agencies to be present at the beginning of our school day with several officers remaining on campus througout the day to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We also want to thank all of our parents and legal guardians who entrust the safety and well-being of your children to us here at Okeene Public Schools. I assure each of you that it is a responsibility we do not take for granted. Thank you for your continued support and Go-Bless our school and community!!! Due to inclement weather, the Okeene Invitational Basketball Tournament has been postponed until Saturday. Top seeds have advanced to the winners bracket and lower seeds have advanced to the losers bracket. Tournament play will pick up in the semifinals on Saturday and finals on Monday.

The Okeene Invitational Basketball Tournament has been postponed due to weather. We will proceed with a Friday, Saturday, Monday format until further notice. Here are the updated brackets as of Thursday, January 9th at 10:30am.
After assessing the situation, the current radar, and expectations for this evening in the parking lot; OPS has decided to postpone the entire Okeene Invitational Tournament until tomorrow. We will proceed with a Fri, Sat, Mon format. Please watch for any other updates.
Our Junior High Whippets and Lady Whippets will be participating in the Sharon Mutual Junior High Basketball Tournament next week.
The Redbud Reading Challenge kicked off today in Pre-K through 2nd grades. Each week, students will read two books and vote on their favorite. The winning book will advance and by April, Okeene Elementary will have chosen their favorite book to win the Redbud Reading Challenge.
The 2025 Okeene Invitational Basketball Tournament starts this Thursday! Our Lady Whippets play Hinton at 7:00pm and our Whippets follow against Geary at 8:20pm.
Gym Rats starts back up tomorrow, January 7th at 6:30am in the old gym for any 3rd-8th graders. 🏀
